UMPO UEC tested engine for T-50 fifth generation fighter
UFA, 21 November 2016. /Bashinform News Agency, Olga Murtazina/. UMPO UEC successfully tested an engine for the T-50 fifth generation fighter (Prospective Airborne Complex of Frontline Aviation — PAC FA). Bench tests of the so-called "product 30" were held at Lytkarinsky Machine-Building Plant in Moscow – the UMPO branch.

As it is known, due to the new engine the Russian T-50 will be able to compete with the American F-22 (the United States is the only country that has the latest generation of combat aircraft in its armory). To this end, aircraft designers and engineers create new heavy-duty and ultra-light alloys and sophisticated structures. The engine of the second stage must first solve the problem of long-distance flights at supersonic speeds without afterburner. PAC FA is created in the Sukhoi Design Bureau.

Now T-50s are equipped with the engine of the first stage (product 117), which was also developed by UMPO engineers.
